MEET THE TRENDSETTER

Mary Kate Donahue

Welcome to Talk Trendy To Me! I am the twenty-three year old fashionista, herself- Mary Kate! Originally from the greater Washington, DC area, I graduated from a high school in the area and traveled south for college to the University of Georgia. In May 2019, I graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Entrepreneurship. Now, I am working toward my goal of becoming a fashion guru of some sort and embarking into the remarkable world of fashion. Perhaps as a buyer for a luxury brand, a personal stylist or maybe even a trend forecaster— who knows! Throughout summer 2017, I tested the waters of the retail industry, as the National Retail Federation’s Communications Intern. While in school, I dove head first into my major classes, including a Trend Forecasting & Analysis course, Retail Planning & Buying course, a Textile Testing lab, as well as performing research alongside a professor on subculture’s affect on the fashion cycle. Throughout summer 2018, I studied fashion and interned at a boutique in Florence, Italy, which was the experience of a lifetime. Nowadays, I am working as a the Social Media Manager at Sassanova, a local boutique in Bethesda, MD, while simultaneously job hunting for a “big girl” job…hopefully in NYC!

As a certified talkaholic and shopaholic, my life revolves around fashion. My personal style is undoubtedly trendy, with a twist of classic from time-to-time. While I adore the traditional silhouettes and classic staple pieces, I often find myself following trends and giving in to the world of ever-changing, bold styles. What will trend be this season?
